About Mike <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Recognized in 2018 by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) as one of Canada\u2019s Top Ten Municipal Innovators, Mike is a Professional Engineer, Project Manager and Organizational Leader with international experience in municipal infrastructure, sustainability projects and urban development projects. Working in the municipal sector, Mike was recognized for his focus on organizational efficiency, procurement, asset management, multi-disciplinary project development, conceptual design, sustainability and risk management; Mike is a strategic thinker ready to provide leadership to staff, projects and processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike received a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Newcastle, Australia, studying at the Australian Defence Force Academy and the University of Calgary. With eight years experience in the municipal sector and six years as a consulting engineer, Mike is recognized as a strategic thinker with focus on sustainability, organizational efficiency, multi-disciplinary project development, emergency management, and conceptual infrastructure design. As a small-town engineer, Mike\u2019s role includes planning and managing infrastructure projects and asset management as well as overseeing the day to day management of the engineering, development and public works departments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Mike is currently serving as a volunteer on the technical advisory group of the Federal Government\u2019s Municipal Climate Services Collaborative, a collaboration between FCM and the Canadian Centre for Climate Services to provide climate change information to local governments across Canada. Mike is also a board member of Cross Country BC, providing strategic direction and leadership to this high-performing organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In 2014, Mike was the first municipal employee in BC to become a certified practitioner in the Envision Rating system; designed to\u00a0provide an industry-recognized framework to evaluate and rate the social, environmental and economic benefits of all types of infrastructure.\u00a0Mike has been writing about sustainable infrastructure since 2006, and has presented to professional organizations, universities, colleges and local groups on sustainability and the role of engineers in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
